Chuck Feed Handwheel Assembly SVSIID

This assembly allows the operator to precisely feed the valve towards the grinding wheel during the valve face procedure, enabling accurate material removal.

The Chuck Feed Handwheel Assembly is a crucial component of the Kwik-Way SVS II Deluxe Valve Refacer, specifically for machines with serial numbers 12651 and higher. This assembly is integrated into the Chuck Bearing Slide Assembly and provides the operator with fine control over the movement of the valve towards the grinding wheel during the valve face operation. This feed wheel is exclusively used while grinding the valve face and is NOT used when grinding the valve stem (Cut-Off Grinding).

During the Valve Face procedure, the operator slowly turns the Chuck Feed Handwheel (often simply called the “feed hand wheel”) clockwise to bring the valve face into contact with the grinding wheel. The operator continues to slowly turn the handwheel while simultaneously passing the grinding wheel back and forth across the valve face until the desired surface area is fully ground. For the finish grind, the feed is stopped, and the wheel is passed across the face multiple times (3 or 4) until the valve “sparks out,” indicating a smooth and accurate finish.

The Chuck Bearing Feed screw, a key part of this assembly, is equipped with a snap-lid oiler located near the hand wheel. This feature allows for easy lubrication of the feed screw, ensuring smooth and consistent operation of the handwheel during valve face grinding.

Furthermore, the hand wheel plays a role in adjusting the valve slide. If excessive play develops in the valve slide, the hand wheel can be used to position the included set screw, which can then be tightened to reduce or eliminate the unwanted movement.
