J HSS Tapered Reamer for Cummins ISX15/QSX15 Series Castings

The recommended operating speed for this reamer is approximately 60 to 80 RPM. It is vital to avoid reaming too deeply, ensuring only enough material is removed to allow the corresponding tap (407-5313-10) to engage with a few threads to start the tapping process. Throughout the reaming operation, consistent and thorough lubrication with Irontite Tap-O (468-9920-08) is essential. Irontite Tap-O is an 8 oz. tapping compound formulated without oil or carbon tetrachloride.

The precisely sized hole created by this reamer is then tapped to accept a “J” Plug. The associated taps for this purpose are the HSS Tapered Taps J & J-2 Drilled (407-5313-10). The Ductile Iron “J” Solid Diesel Iron Plugs (452-2613-13) and Ductile Iron J-2 Drilled Plugs (452-2613-14) are designed to thread into the hole prepared by this reamer and tap. The “J” plug has a small end diameter of 1.312 inches.
