Removal Tool Cummins ISX15/QSX15 DOHC, X15 SOHC

This Removal Tool is designed for the sleeve removal process in Cummins ISX15, QSX15 DOHC, and X15 SOHC series engines. It is used after valve removal and hold-down clamp procedures to extract the old injector sleeves from the casting. This tool is included in both the Complete ISX15 / QSX15 DOHC Kit with Toolbox (450-6156-00) and the Complete X15 SOHC Kit with Toolbox (450-6157-00).

This specialized Removal Tool is essential for the process of extracting worn injector sleeves from Cummins ISX15, QSX15 DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft), and X15 SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) series engines. Following the removal of the engine valves and the installation/removal of the sleeve hold-down clamp (clamp not included with this tool), this remover is employed to safely and effectively pull out the old sleeves.

The removal procedure involves inserting the tool’s threaded puller shaft down into the interior of the old injector sleeve. The shaft is then torqued, causing its threads to grip the sleeve firmly. A puller bridge (or cup) is positioned between the puller nut and the face of the engine casting. To ensure smooth operation and reduce friction, a thrust bearing and two thrust washers are placed between the puller nut and the puller bridge. Finally, tightening the puller nut applies upward force, drawing the old injector sleeve out of the casting.
