These cutting bits are used to clean the grooves of the Cummins 855 series engines. The grooves were originally used with older, asbestos-based head gaskets.

This tool bit is specifically designed for regrooving the face of Cummins 855 series (5-½” bore) cylinder heads after resurfacing. It requires the complete tool assembly 418-6191-00 for proper centering and operation.

A bit of history: These grooves were originally used with older, asbestos-based head gaskets. The grooves helped prevent the cylinder head from sliding due to heat, cooling, and high combustion pressures, which could lead to compression or coolant leaks. While modern gaskets no longer necessitate this grooving process, some rebuilders continued the practice for cosmetic purposes on freshly milled cylinder heads.

While this technique is less common today, we understand that some of you may still utilize this tool. Given the limited remaining stock, we encourage you to order any replacement bits you may need now, as they will no longer be available once our current inventory is depleted.
