The thrust bearing and two thrust washers are placed between the puller nut (which threads onto the puller shaft) and the puller bridge. 5. Extracting the Sleeve: Finally, by tightening down the puller nut on the threaded shaft, an upward pulling force is generated. This mechanical force overcomes the friction and interference fit of the old sleeve, effectively pulling it out of the engine block.
