A step comparator is a tool designed to accurately measure the difference in height between two distinct surfaces. The process involves setting up the Indicator Bar and Dial Indicator on the flywheel surface, using the included Standards (1.00” and 2.00”) as known reference heights to calibrate the dial indicator. The extensions (Truck and Automotive) allow for reaching different measurement points on various flywheel sizes and designs. By using this kit, operators can take accurate measurements of the initial step height and then grind the appropriate surfaces to achieve the required final dimension. This ensures proper clutch engagement and prevents issues like clutch slippage or dragging.
