Which Flywheel Grinder is Right for You?
When selecting the correct machine for your shop’s environment consider the following.

First determine the correct power source you have in your shop to run the machine.
- FG5000’s are available with a variety of power options, 208/230/460, 60HZ, single or three phase as well as several 50 HZ versions.
- FG10000’s are only available with 3 Phase motors.208/230/460, 60HZ or 380V, 50HZ

Second, determine the daily, weekly, monthly usage you expect to run your machine.
- A typical shop might grind anywhere from 5-10 flywheels per month. In these cases the FG5000, whether it is a Manual Feed, Power Column or Auto-Grind version, uses a 5 horse power motor which is more than adequate for passenger car, light and heavy duty truck flywheels. Approximately 85% of the machines we sell are the FG5000 series.
- For shops grinding at a much higher daily usage rate, 5-10 per day, the FG10000 has a larger 10 horse power motor that allows the user to remove material at a faster rate and is designed to withstand higher volume or production type usage. For added support, the 10 HP grinding motor is mounted on a 1” larger column than the FG5000 and has an additional 1 ¾” of upward column travel that improves clearance for loading and unload larger stepped or dish type flywheels.
